What Is Electronic Notarisation?

Electronic notarisation is the process of authenticating documents digitally using a qualified electronic signature issued by a Notary Public. The notarised document is authenticated electronically, allowing it to be transmitted and used in digital form where appropriate.

This process ensures that the document, and the notary who has certified it, is recognised and accepted by the relevant government authority in the destination country.

Once notarised, documents may be submitted for further authentication depending on the destination country. In many cases, this involves:

  • certification under the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
  • submission to foreign embassies or consulates for additional legalisation

We are also able to provide clients with United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland government-issued Hague Convention 1961 Digital Apostilles. Electronic notarisation and Digital Apostille services are closely linked and are often provided together as part of the same process.
